How To Force Yourself to Change
“Nothing Changes Until You Do”
Sometimes making changes in life seems next to impossible. We all get comfortable in our everyday routines and it’s easy to just stick with the status quo.
It’s also much less scary. No matter how bad life may seem, it’s still the devil you know. So it’s much easier to just stick with what you have instead of making major changes that may or may not work out.
If you have a difficult time making changes in your life, consider doing something drastic that will force you to change.
– Move to another state
– Change jobs or careers
For me, the best way to force a change is to move. Even moving to another house or apartment has in the past been a catalyst for forcing myself to change.
Just the simple act of moving forces you to evaluate all the “stuff” you’ve accumulated over the years. You have to clean corners you don’t remember seeing before, and make quick decisions about what to do with things and where to put them.
This “spring cleaning” approach is required as part of the moving process. If you can force yourself to just clean in this manner once or twice a year that would go a long way towards helping you make the changes you want in your life.
If you can’t make yourself start a huge cleaning job like that then you can force it by moving instead.
The same effects can be gotten from changing jobs. You’re forced by circumstances to get up at a different time, dress a different way, get to work by a different route and do things differently once you’re there. Even if the new job is similar to the old one, just the changes of scenery, vibes and atmosphere at the new workplace can have a dramatic effect.
Nothing Changes Until you Do. If you have a hard time changing things in your life, do something drastic that will force you to change automatically.
